During his post-game interview, Coach Sean Payton was asked the following question:
Oct 19, 2008 - New Orleans, LA - New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton still isn't putting veteran running-back Deuce McAllister in the game on crucial third-and-one yard plays. Sean Payton must figure out how to get a first down in third-and-one situations. Today, both third-and-one plays were Reggie Bush runs to the right end. The first was a 3 yard gain for a first down and the second was a -2 yard loss for a punt on forth-down. Head Coach Sean Payton needs give the football to veteran running-back Deuce McAllister or figure out another way to successfully get a first down on third-and-one situations. It has been a pattern this year, on crucial third-and-one yard downs, the New Orleans Saints have had very limited success running the football for a first down without Deuce McAllister in the back-field. Give the ball to Duece, dude. It ain't that difficult. Or, put Duece in the back-field and execute a passing play from Drew Brees to one of the New Orlean's Saints trustworthy receiving corps.
Sep 22, 2008 - New Orleans, LA - Sean Payton must play veteran running-back Deuce McAllister in third-and-one yard situations and/or let Drew Brees pass to one of the New Orlean's Saints trustworthy receiving corps. The inability for the New Orleans Saints to get a first down in a third-and-one situation must stop immediately, if not sooner! |
