New Orleans Saints defeat Jacksonville Jaguars 41 - 24
November 4, 2007 - New Orleans Saints win! 41 - 24 vs Jacksonville Jaguars. Welcome back Jack Del Rio!
How tough is it going to be to get the New Orleans Saints to the SuperBowl? Would it be difficult for the New Orleans Saints to go 12 - 4 this season? All they have to do is win-out ... the New Orleans Saints only would have to win the rest of their games this season; only eight more!
How hard is it to play
professional football? If you ask Kansas City Running Back, Larry Johnson,
he'll tell you that it's not hard at all. Of course, plenty of players and
coaches sell everything as complex. It makes them seem smarter, wiser and
more complex. Larry Johnson says it's just not so. "It's not a chess game," he said, dismissing the common football analogy. "It's
checkers. When they're looking for the run, you pass. When they're looking
for the pass, you run. When they put nine guys in the box, you pass. When
they overload to one side, you run to the other side."
Larry Johnson said, "I
learned a long time ago about coaches. They're always going to do what they
want to do. It's usually an ego thing rather than trying to be better. Football
is easy. It's not a chess game, it's checkers, not chess. Coaches make it
out as more complicated than it should be. Sometimes coaches make it so difficult
during a game, like it's trigonometry, 'If this guy moves two feet back or
this guy slides over six feet, we've got to do this or do that.' In the game,
it never happens that way. It's common sense.
Later,
Larry Johnson said, "It's like they try to boil it down to make it seem
like, all right, if this guy moves back 5 inches and this guy over here
moves to the right two steps, then we have to go here with it. If not,
we gotta go this way. It's not as hard as you make it. Sometimes you
overcoach things to make it hard when it's really, really simple. This
game is simple. There's not too much to it. It's all about doing the
right things at the right time."
