Restricted free agent defensive tackle Remi Ayodele has re-signed with the New Orleans Saints. Remi Ayodele agreed to the New Orleans Saints qualifying offer and will play in New Orleans for the 2010 season.
The New Orleans Saints signed Remi Ayodele as a member of the practice squad at the outset of the 2008 season.
Remi Ayodele, became a key defensive contributor in 2009, starting 13 games at nose tackle and making 53 tackles with 1½ sacks, a pass defense and a fumble recovery, which came in the end zone for a touchdown.
The three-year veteran Remi Ayodele, a 6-2, 318-pound defensive tackle, played in a total of 15 games last season and started two of the team’s three postseason games, making an additional eight tackles and recovering another fumble.
For his career, the 26-year-old Remi Ayodele has played in 28 games, starting 13 of them, and made 65 tackles with 1½ sacks, a pass defense, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Remi Ayodele, a four-year veteran out of the University of Oklahoma was undrafted, but signed by the Baltimore Ravens in 2006.
Remi Ayodele also played for the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys.
The New Orleans Saints were expected to draft a defensive end early in the NFL draft this year; however, With the signing of Remi Ayodele, the Saints are now less desperate now to replace waived defensive end Charles Grant, but still may pick a defensive end early in the NFL draft. The New Orleans Saints first pick in the 2010 NFL draft will probably be a Linebacker to replace Scott Fujita, now with the Cleveland Browns.
