September 1, 2007 - Pierre Thomas is a strong running back and his New Orleans Saints team-mates know it. Pierre Thomas said, "A lot of guys have been coming up to me and congratulating me. It feels great. It's an honor, and I'm truly blessed."

April 30, 2007 - Free-agent running back, Pierre Thomas signs with the New Orleans Saints. Pierre Thomas played 40 games and ranks sixth in University of Illinois history with 2,545 rushing yards. Thomas averaged 5.6 yards per carry over his career with the Fighting Illini and ran for 20 touchdowns. Pierre also caught 57 passes for 411 yards and three touchdowns. Pierre led the fighting Illini in rushing in each of the final three seasons, and had eight 100-yard games. He had a school-record 1,495 career kickoff return yards, averaging 24.1 yards as a kick returner for his career including a 99-yard return for a touchdown. He is second in school history with 4,451 all-purpose yards.
