Kevin Kaesviharn (S) becomes a New Orleans Saint
Kaesviharn signs 4-year contract worth $10 million with New Orleans Saints
March 13, 2007 - The Saints' newest safety, Kevin Kaesviharn, beat-up the Saints pretty good last year. He led the Cincinnati Bengals to a 31-16 victory over the Saints in the Superdome last season. In that game, he intercepted a Drew Brees pass in the end zone just before halftime. He finished the game with 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
The 30-year-old Kaesviharn, agreed to a terms on a four-year contract worth $10 million with the New Orleans Saints. In Cincinnati, Kaesviharn (6-1, 196) was mostly the third safety and nickel back. Kevin can also play strong safety and free safety and cornerback.
Kaesviharn said, "I just felt like it was a great situation; the team is up and coming. Well, I shouldn't say up and coming. They've established something great with Coach Payton. When I visited with him, I believed everything he said. We're here to compete and do something great."
Kaesviharn has a colorful past. He went to college at Augustana (South Dakota) and was not drafted by the NFL. When he left college, his first job was as an algebra teacher. He bounced around the Arena Football League and XFL until finding a home with the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL.
Kaesviharn is the second former Bengal to join the Saints in free agency this year. Veteran linebacker Brian Simmons was signed last week.
