Four time Pro-Bowler, Joe Horn returns to the Superdome

New Orleans Saints beat the Atlanta Falcons 22-16

October 21, 2007 - Wecome back Joe Horn! A booing Superdome crowd welcomed Joe Horn back to New Orleans, as his Atlanta Falcons come-up short and lose the the New Orleans Saints 22-16. Joe Horn said, "I didn't expect everybody to cheer me. I still love the fans. Some of them booed, but I'm sure in their heart they still love me. I understood. I just smiled and kept going on my way."

Joe Horn caught only three passes for 25 yards. Joe Horn said, "I came to win a football game, and I didn't. I came up short. It is what it is. I try to catch what they throw to me. The guys who are catching the football right now are doing a great job. It would be a problem if I wasn't getting any balls, but the young cats are balling. They're working hard, and I'm not selfish. I play my part and do what I have to do to win football games. Right now, it's just not happening.

Although Joe Horn scored 50 touchdowns during his seven seasons in New Orleans, he's still looking for his first score with Atlanta. Joe Horn, said, "Sometimes you got to start at the bottom to get to the top. I was with the Saints when we weren't that good, and it took some years. Hopefully, the Atlanta Falcons can be a winning organization before I leave. That's what happened here with the Saints. Right now, it's gloomy for the Falcons, but trust me it'll all come around." Joe Horn's role now includes mentoring the Falcons young receivers. Joe Horn is 35 years old.

About New Orleans Saints Coach, Sean Payton, Joe Horn said, "I gave him a hug. All that other stuff doesn't matter no more. Sean Payton has a job to do. I'm an Atlanta Falcon now. I respect what he has done for this organization. Bygones are bygones. That's a chapter, a saga in my life with Coach Payton, that is gone. That's water under the bridge."

March 7, 2007 - Free Agent Joe Horn, has agreed to a four-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, the New Orleans' Saints oldest rival. Horn signed a four-year, $19 million contract with $7.5 million guaranteed in the first two years. Horn said, "I love New Orleans. I always will. But I do want to say this: One man's trash could be another man's treasure."

Joe Horn was released by the New Orleans Saints last week in a mutual agreement to part ways rather than negotiate a pay cut. Horn, 35, was set to earn $5.55 million in salary and bonuses in 2007. Horn said it wasn't about the money, but that he didn't feel loved by the New Orleans Saints. Joe didn't feel he was in Coach Payton's plans for the Saint's future. He feels the love now in Atlanta. Horn said, "(Falcon's owner) Mr. Blank opened up his arms. The coaching staff wanted me to come here, needed me here, I felt loved. I felt wanted from the front office to the janitors. I knew I would be treated with dignity and respect."

Horn has thought about the coming back to the Superdome every year to play the Saints. Horn said, "It's going to be a homecoming, and I'm going to try to do my best to win. I want to do what I've been doing the last seven years in New Orleans. I was an upstanding citizen there, and I'll be one in Atlanta. I'll be a great locker room guy, a friend on and off the field to my teammates, like I was in New Orleans. I'll also be a media darling."

Joe Horn is a four-time Pro Bowl receiver. Joe is the New Orleans Saint's all-time touchdown leader with 50 TDs in seven seasons. Joe is second in the New Orleans Saint's receiving leaders behind Eric Martin with 523 receptions for 7,622 yards.

Joe Horn's career with the New Orleans Saints blew-up when he missed the Saint's final six games of the 2006 season with a groin injury. Horn was frustrated with Coach Payton, as Horn felt he was healthy enough to play in Chicago at the NFC championship game. Coach Payton disagreed and grounded Horn.

The Atlanta Falcons had the league's worst-ranked passing offense in 2006, averaging 148 yards per game. Michael Vick has shouldered much of the blame for the Atlanta Falcons demise. Good luck with that Joe Horn. You've got a tall mountain to climb in Atlanta.

March 1, 2007 - Free Agent Joe Horn, on his release from the New Orleans Saints: "This town isn't big enough for Joe Horn and Sean Payton." In the second year of a six-year, $41 million contract extension he signed May 6, 2005, Horn was due a $4.45 million base salary for the 2007 season, plus a $1 million dollar roster bonus on March 15, 2007. January 10, 2007 - Joe Horn, on his playing status for the playoffs: "I told Coach Payton I would risk ripping the groin completely of the bone to help this team. I don't know what might happen tomorrow. It could be your last game. Hopefully, I'm here. I don't wee any reason why I wouldn't see any reason why I wouldn't be, but that's out of my control and I can't worry about it".

December 16, 2005 - Joe Horn, on Hurricane Katrina: "Seeing that on TV and crying my eyes out in California, I wanted to be on that bridge. I wanted to go back home and help all those senior citizens out of their homes, and I couldn't. It wasn't about football to me. My heart went out to those babies on the streets, those people in the Superdome, and I wanted to help. I wanted to steal a bus and drive those people to Houston. I wanted to be a part of that bandwagon. That's why Joe Horn wants to go back to New Orleans and Louisiana, so I can at least be a part of the rebuilding process before I retire."

December 14, 2003 - Joe Horn, on his cell-phone touchdown dance versus the New York Giants: "I'll probably get fined for it, and I think it's ridiculous." Full story: Joe Horn cell-phone

September 12, 2003 - Joe Horn, on his relationship with the fans: "I want people to remember that I stayed in a high school stadium until 11 o'clock at night and gave a kid an autograph. When I'm the only guy left, and the lights are off, and I'm there with a dad and his son who had to fight the mosquitoes of until the end, that's how I want to be remembered. If I'm only remembered for what I did on the football field, then that would be an embarrassment to me."
