New Orleans Saints pick Florida State Cornerback Patrick Robinson

Cornerback Patrick Robinson is Saints 1st round pick in 2010 NFL Draft (32nd overall)

April 22, 2010 - New York City, New York. The New Orleans Saints were expected to draft defensive players early in the NFL draft this year. They did so by selecting the 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Florida State Cornerback, Patrick Robinson. In 2009, the New Orleans Saints defense ranked 25th in the NFL in yards allowed while the offense was #1 in the NFL for the third time in four seasons. Drafting defensive players is definitely the New Orleans Saints priority in the 2010 NFL draft.

By drafting Cornerback Patrick Robinson, the Saints have another potential nickel back behind their starting cornerback duo of Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer. Also, this gives the defending champion New Orleans Saints the flexibility to move their last year's 1st round pick, cornerback Malcolm Jenkins, to safety if the New Orleans Saints are unable to re-sign unrestricted free agent Safety Darren Sharper.

With the recent signings of free agent defensive linemen Alex Brown (DE), Jimmy Wilkerson (DE), and Remi Ayodele (DT), the New Orleans Saints are looking pretty good on the defensive line. Now the New Orleans Saints will be looking for a linebacker or two on the 2nd & 3rd days of te 2010 NFL draft to replace Scott Fujita, now with the Cleveland Browns.

Who should New Orleans Saints pick in the 2010 NFL Draft?

If the New Orleans Saints can't find a replacement for Scott Fujita via free agency, they will likely find a replacement for him in next month's NFL draft. The New Orleans Saints will also need to find another defensive lineman, as the New Orleans Saints let go of Charles Grant last week. Again, the defensive lineman could come from free agency or the 2010 NFL draft. In any case, the New Orleans Saints will pick up a quality linebacker, as well as, a very good defensive lineman soon.
