Donte' Stallworth gets $33 million contract with Patriots
$3.6 million is guaranteed for 2007
March 12, 2007 - Free Agent Donte' Stallworth, agreed to a six-year contract with the New England Patriots worth $33.1 million with $3.6 million guaranteed for the 2007 season. Donte' won't be playing with the Philadelphia Eagles and Quarterback Donovan McNabb next year. He should be a legitimate deep passing threat for the New England Patriots and Quarterback Tom Brady.
The 28-year-old Stallworth is departing the Philadelphia Eagles after only one season where he caught 38 passes for 725 yards and five touchdowns in 12 regular season games. In his two playoff games with Philadelphia last season, Donte' had six catches for 141 yards and two scores. One of those scores was against the New Orleans Saints on January 13, 2007 when he burned Fred Thomas for a 75 yard touchdown reception. Despite Stallworth's effort in that playoff game, the New Orleans Saints squeaked out a 27-24 win in the Superdome.
Stallworth played in New Orleans for four years after being drafted in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft. In 68 games, Donte' has 233 career receptions for 3,516 yards and 28 touchdowns. Stallworth has missed 12 games due to injury in five seasons. Donte's major injury has been a problematic (torn) hamstring.
August 28, 2006 - Donte' Stallworth was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles from the New Orleans Saints for backup MLB Mark Simoneau and a conditional 4th round pick.
